Calling occupants of interplanetary craft...

Today I would like to champion a band. Why you ask? Well, this band has one of the most interesting stories going. 'Klaatu' started in the mid-1970's. They became one of the biggest dissapointments the music industry has ever seen...
You see, it seems that 'Klaatu' (named after the robot from the sci fi cold-war classic 'The Day the Earth Stood Still') kept their identity a secret. Not even record company execs knew who they were. Thus rumor started that they were actually another very famous band (the Beatles) incognito.
Why? Apparently, backward messages, Morse code, references to the group in the song lyrics, and the word "Beatles" hidden in various places on the record jacket were some of the clues.
Interest grew rapidly.
Turns out, they were just a bunch of losers from Canada... and wierd ones at that. having a penchant towards singing about aliens, global destruction and the like. If you imagine all the wierdness of prog rock doodlers 'Yes', but on many more poor quality hits of acid, thats 'Klaatu'.
For example:
"Please come in peace, we beseech you. Only a landing would teach them, or earth may never survive."
Anyway, to cut a long story short... after huge intial interest, they soon became a record company disaster. Now the members toil in progressive rock obscurity.

The real Klaatu
If you would like a more sympathetic version of this story, try looking at the Klaatu offical site: http://www.klaatu.org/ or http://www.pergunnareriksson.se/cover17.htm
Now i must go. Songs about aliens i cannot tolerate.
